Ordovician Fossils
Collected from the Stockdale Quarry at Longsleddle, Cumbria on July 16, 2008 by C & K Paxton. These date from the very end of the Ordovician period. We were very excited to find such early fossils, fragmentary though they are.
According to Alister and Alison Cruikshanks of UK Fossils Network, these rocks are from the Stile End Member, Hirnantian period, 443 to 444 million yrs ago. For more information on Stockdale, please see their website.
